The purpose of the Butler County Democratic Central Committee is to represent Democrats in the county precincts. the committee promotes the election of party candidates and works with the national, state and district party organizations, elected officials, candidates and constituencies to respond to the needs and views of Butler County Democrats. Precinct committee members are the first level of organization within the Iowa Democratic Party.

All registered Democrats who reside in Butler County and are willing to serve are welcome to join the central committee. Two committee members from each of the eight precincts are elected annually at the Butler County Democratic caucuses and are registered as such with the Iowa Democratic Party. Additional members are elected by the central committee as nominated throughout the year. There is no limit to the number of individuals who may serve on the committee. the central committee meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Allison Public Library, unless otherwise notified.
